I could imagine what 148 mph on two wheels would be like---but -THIS- is beyond comprehension!

How fast have --YOU--ever gone on two wheels?

For me, I once topped out my Harley @119mph, instead of potato-potato it was going suwweeeeeeeeee-pig-pig-pig!:)

<--I am confused:confused: , *HERE* they refer to it as a car instead of a motorcycle

Ken. The rig pictured there is a four wheeler. Vesco set the absolute wheel-driven land speed record with it. He is also going to go for the two wheel record soon, which is 322mph.

Fastest I have ever gone is a buck 65 on a road racer.:scream:

I've only done 110. It was on my buddies 1100F. I got scared when I realized I was going that fast so I did the most stupidest thing. I chopped the throttle. That thing tank slapped me silly, but I managed to keep it between my legs until I could get back on the gas. Left a lot of skid marks on the road, but not from the tires, if you know what I'm sayin'. Haven't been on a street bike since, and that was in 1984.:confused:

I'm not much of a "cafe" racer type--always liked torque hogs like VMAX's, which are best suited for 0-100 or so.

...although once I did nail my 83 V65 Magna cruiser coming into town. My "Ray Ban"'s bent around my face & left permanent bruises on my nose (no windshield or helmet:o ). When I let off & felt like actually focusing on the speedo, I was coming down past 140 or so. So who knows?

Here we go, though. "I go 220 on my ZX12 daily!":silly:

I got the good old DT up to 75-80mph in 5th gear but got to scared to click it into 6th. Top speed of the DT is still unknown to this day but I guesstimate it could top 100mph maybe 110. Around here we race from trail to trail using the street if we have to. I completely blew away the MX bikes and quads that were with me and lets say I won the race to the trail.

I'm curious as to some REAL top speed numbers that people have geared their bikes up to. I don't mean "my PW 50 was geared so high it woul do 120, it just took a long time" I once heard the big 500's could be geared to around 115 or so, but that's about the highest I've heard, and I think those bikes were race bikes. As for myself, the ground sure looks like it'd hurt tapped out in 6th. How fast is that? Probably a lot slower than I would like to think.;)

With the stock gearing, my NSR 250 hits 200kph (130mph?) at redline in 6th gear. It definately has the power to go faster, but that is plenty fast enough for any place on this island.

98 mph on an Al Baker prepped XR500 at El Mirage. My buddies 630 did 106.

Don't doubt my bike and its extremely tall gearing
1st gear - 10 mph
2nd - 25 to 30 mph
3rd - 40 to 45 mph
4th - 60 to 65 mph
5th - 75 to 80 mph (I never been all the way through 5th gear, the DT gets wobbly at those speeds, maybe with some street tires I could go faster)
6th - 100 mph is a guess

On a side note I might be gearing it down so it will be quicker

PD69, I doubt your bike does 100mph. An XR650R with baja gearing does a top speed of 115mph, I think, so I highly doubt it'll go that fast.

105 on a 1984 KTM 495. The trail seemed long enough at the time... but I ran out of trail REAL fast. Very scary:eek:

this is going to be my last post on this subject since this post wasn't for me to explain how my bike runs

It all depends how your bike is geared, and it happens my bike has dead slow accelation. Oh and a history lessen on my DT the pervious owner used it as a street bike so he probably geared it for the street.

you know what I'm going to go find a cop ride by him at top speed and see what his radar gun says...

130+ MPH in 1985.

Last time I looked at the speedo, she was approaching 135, which was just about tops for the 1985 ZX6. Yuma, AZ on the straightaway from the airport heading towards the right turn towards the Air Station.
Trust me when I say that I had absolutely no business going that fast back then (or now for that matter). And I've got the scars to prove it. Something about youth and enthusiasm...

125 on a 1998 GSXR750. Fast enough for me. Did I mention my bike had to be put to rest only a year after she was bought due to fatal injuries.
