throttle govenor

I bought my daughter a pep boys dirtbike (cheap i know) but i want to make a govenor cause it does not have one. Does anyone know how this can be done. Example i am thinking of is put a clamp on the throttle line so it will not twist all the way in. Not to sure if this will work. Please help i don't want her to kill herself.

I would take the carb apart and see if you could slide something over the cable inside that would limit how far the slide could come up. Be very careful with this, what could be intended to limit the throttle might end up causing it to hang!

You might also try putting washer in the exhaust to restrict it.

Another possibility would be to drill, tap, and insert your own throttle stop into the right grip assembly.

or drill and tap a long screw with a jam nut in the top of the carb (the twist on cap above the slide)

Just add a bit of excess slack into the cable, that way you can tak the slack back in as she gets better. Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes
