We used either some paint with gritty sand in it, or spray on contact adhesive. Both seemed to work well, although the paint wouldn't be so good in the rain ;)

3M makes black grit tape that you can buy in rolls at your local Home Depot. You can get it from about 1/2" wide to 3" wide. Appy some on your line up the car. Clean the metal on the car real good with alcohol; it should stick really good then.

I used it to line some wooden steps in our garage, and 3 years later it is still super grippy.

Just tape it. Usually the front and back windows pop out before they break. Our club made up some wooden ramps to go over the windows so that there wasn't any metal to glass contact.

Logs are always good - the bigger the better. If you have Expert class riders make them go up the end of the log and wheelie along it, this always impresses people. The other thing is to get some younger riders (on smaller bikes such as the 50cc ones) riding around turning and balancing. This makes people aware that trials is not only for Experts with improbably large wedding tackle, and most people like to see little kids puttering around on nice quiet bikes.

Coke can provide traction, but washes off easily. Just spray it on and let it dry.

During our demo with a car, isolating the suspension from the ground, with pallets, made a big difference to the rideablility of the car.
