Motosports now makes a 100/100/18 rear tire in the S-12 series along with 110/100 and 120/100 sizes. Is there any downfall to going up in the width sizes? I'm in FLA so I think a wider tire would help in the soft sandy terrian.

The only issues with the larger tires are they require more power to spin, weigh more and tend to slow the handling a bit.

On the KDX I suspect you'd not gain anything by going bigger than 110.

hey elfers,

I am going to be down riding in Ocala in January. Know much about the National Forest there?

BTW, I run a Maxxis IT 110 on the rear, lovin' it!

I'm running a Kenda Trackmaster, 120-100-18. Too big. Not too wide, but it really smashes the front 1/2 of the rear fender when bottoming, and my chain adjusters are on #8 (pretty far back). It hits enough that it started cracking some plastic. Next tire will be a 110 or even back to a 100.

Thanks guys, thats the kinda stuff I needed to know. I will stick with the 100/100 or go to the 110/100 from the sounds of it. Captbly99, I was born in Ocala but havent been riding there for a long time. I'm only 2 1/2 hours away maybe we can meet or I have some spots down south here around Sebring to ride. I've even got another 98 200 besides my 05 220 so we should be able to figure something out.

Later,

I orderd my tires today and come to find out mich has a diffrent way of measureing their tires.
The guy said the tire will come marked 110/90/18 but it is acually the same exact size as a 100/100/18. Is this correct??

Michelin size 120/90x18 = 100/100x18 Conventional sizing
Michelin size 130/70x19 = 110/90x19 Conventional sizing
Michelin size 130/80x18 = 110/100x18 Conventional sizing
Michelin size 140/80x18 = 120/100x18 Conventional sizing
Michelin size 90/90x21 = 80/100x21 Conventional sizing
