Well lets start with the "O". Leaving from Whiskey Creek - heading toward US10 - trail is at 70% dirt (FANTASTIC compared to the Snowy Chicken) with some "slushy" stuff left in real piney areas. There are still a few genuine solid "ice outs" but it (the trail) is rideable without screws if you watch where your going.
Cedar Creek - PERFECT!
Horseshoe Lake - PERFECT!
My new KX500 - PERFECT!
Life in general (except for the WAR) - PERFECT!
Now get out and enjoy it folks!
Woodsy
Thanks Woodsy, I'm going to try to hit Horshoe or Cedar this weekend. I can't make it to Gladwin with the spring break-in crowd :( , but hope to sneak away for a couple hours of closer riding.
Hey Mark - I dont know if my group is going over this Saturday either (doesnt look like the weather is going to do us any favors!). What time you thinkin about the "creek"?
Woodsy
To maximize any warmth from the day, and due to the fact that my son usually doesn't get up before 11 on Saturday, it'll be 1-2pm. Maybe we'll see you there!
Woodsy, I saw a KTM 450, WR250, DRZ400, CRF230, two Huskys and a GaGas, but no KX500. Did you not make it to Cedar today?
The traction was PERFECT, some of the best I've see at Cedar. The weather was cool, but by the time I got up to speed and worked the body I was plenty warm. The re-valved forks worked very good, although they were a touch soft on compression. Overall a great first riding day!
Nope Mark, you r correct, I didnt make it - I WENT TO GLADWIN ALONE! My chicken buddys didnt want to ride today AT ALL! So I said to heck with them and went riding with a bunch of "easterners" (GREAT BUNCH).
My KX5 spark arrestor didnt come in and the KDX didnt get picked up (it was suppose to be sold) so I took the "little" one and went east!
Sorry I missed you guys but I PROMISE we will hook up soon!!
Glad to hear you guys found the "creek" satisfactory and had a good ride!
See you soon!
Woodsy
Woodsy, yeah the "easterners" are really a great group of people. The Trailfest that Fatherandson et al put together is always a great ride and a great time with really great people. The FredT burgers are to die for! I would've like to join the group but had only a short time for riding today.
Yea Mark I heard all about that and Dirtweek!! Sounds like fun!
I rode with Mr. Luna and his CRF today - about 40 miles. Had a great ride - I am sure you will hear all about it! Man those CRF's FLY! Another mutual friend has one that I raced on the pavement thru the gears on my new KX. DEAD EVEN THRU THE GEARS! I have dropped my front sprocket 1 tooth and his new CRF (I was riding with 2 guys with new CRF's - what a ball!) was stock.
You may know the other party. Hopefully my spark arrestor comes in soon so I can be "legal". I am going to street legal it and then - LOOK OUT WORLD CUZ HERE COMES WOODSY :)
You gonna ride this week?
Woodsy
Woodsy,
I'm going to try to get a ride in on Sunday. I'll go Saturday if I don't make it to Pontiac for the SX. I'm not that stoked about going this year, but if my son doesn't find someone to go, I'll probably take him down. No rides during the week - working 11-12 hours a day leaves no day-light time for play!
No it was a Mr. Huber. Yea Mark let me know about your Company ride (I am sure Matt will too), dates and such. I will see what I can do.
I think we are going to start our summer riding schedule this week. I ride Mondays with 3 other guys all day. Wednesday afternoons with Mr. Huber usually 2 or 3 other riders. I think Matt might be joining us for the Wednesdays when possible. Glad to have you join in when possible!
Anytime your planning on being over here let me know and I will try to hook up with you!
Woodsy
I wish I could've made it and kept the "rear crowd" company! My business is growing leaps and bounds starting now and for the next 3 years. It's been its own kind of "great ride", especially in this economy! But it's been sucking a lot of my what-used-to-be spare time.
I will definately let you, and the rest of the Michigan Trail Riders group know when the company ride is. I started this about 4 years ago for fun, now the guys in the factory set it up and let me know when it is. I also organize a charity car/bike road ride in early summer. If anyone's into tar and gravel rash, I'd like to invite you to this as well.
The dirt ride is fun because there's a bunch of MX riders here at work. They go like stink for 40 minutes, then they're pooped! Trail busters will have a hey day! ;)
Woodsy, what time do your rides start? I'd like to try to hit some of them, but you'd better give me a 20 minute head start! :thumb:
I'll definately want to stay out of the 450/500 roost!
In terms of riding again, I'm shooting for a few hours on Sunday. I was supposed to go to Chicago, but it got cancelled on Friday, so I got a day back!
MW, our Monday rides are usually all day - starting between 8 and 10 am (we are very flexable) and at times return as late 10pm. Currently there are 3 of us Monday riders working on "street legalizing" mx bikes - we had this all straight last year, now we all switched bikes (what a hassle)!! I was home at 7:30 yesterday because of no lights!
That ride (Monday) usually includes some on road stuff too so the "closer" to street legal you are the better - however we (the group) are not anal about it.
It is a BALL because the leader of this ride runs everything from 2 tracks, single trail loops, MCCCT to what ever and knows his way around - that is until its time to go home - most times we end up mapping a road course and head in! At this point Randy (our faithful leader) and I will be trying to fiqure out the mistakes (why we ended up at the top of the Manistee Loop and we were suppose to be at Wiskey Creek) and the rest of the group will be murmering bad stuff about our "guidiing capabilitys" :) ) It gets kind of crazy like that most of the time, but it all adds to the ADVENTURE!
We have been meeting at Wesco just west of Fremont for that one.
Wednesday rides are shorter starting at around 4pm. Riding here locally, C Creek/Horseshoe. This one has been very hit and miss with myself and one other guy sometimes the only riders! Hopefully Matt will be a regular on this one!
This sunday would be great but I have plans at this time. Lets see how it all plays out and maybe.......
I wont roost ya, I am usually at the back of the pack, well sometimes I creep forward...............
Woodsy
Sometimes you creep forward. Matt told me otherwise today! What' this about banging your bars into trees for cornering traction??? Matt is an MX'er, he likes the wide open and whooley stuff!
