I was out riding my 99' KDX 200 and had just done a transmission change when I shift from second down to first and heard a horrible screething noise and then I choose to shut down the bike ASAP.
I was able to get the bike startede but could not engage or get the bike into netural and roll. The only way the bike would roll was if I held in the clutch. How do I get a look at my entire transmission and see what kind of damage I might have done? Any other thoughts?
Thanks....
buy a manual if you don't have one. then start with the gas in the tank, did you forget to put oil in? or did you get or buy water with gas? do you have oil in the transmision? drain the oil in a clean bucket and inspect the oil.
take the top end apart and inspect pull the side covers off and inspect the clutch and magneto.
the object is to find what went wrong and why then fix it and not let it happen again learn from the mistakes and events that happen. it will increase your confidence and ability to ride.
if properly maintained kdxs should not seize with out warning.
