Hey Joe why don't they give you all the Nascar racing cars instead of racing them.. one could get into a wreck and ruin it when they could just give it to good ole Joe... Ha

KX-727: I asked one of the guys I work with who has a little over 1,000 jumps and he said he's had 3 mains malfunction, so it isn't as rare of an occurence as I thought.

He also said that it was normally caused by turbulence when the chute was unfolding and expanding. I would imagine that will be a much more likely possibility in a canyon with weird air currents.

I have no objection to Travis trying this stunt but this stunt isn't very impressive. Travis does many difficult stunts that I wouldn't dream of trying but even I could ride my bike off a cliff and pull a string. The hardest part of an FMX stunt is landing back on the bike and he doesn't even have to do that. I'm not saying this stunt isn't dangerous I'm saying it doesn't require alot of skill. Besides, destroying a perfectly good dirtbike is a shame.

I know it's a cliche, but why leave a perfectly good airplane? Heck, landing one is the best part, well maybe not for Navy guys. ;)

Agree with Dr. BillZ

Think of the disaster. Just how many Strawberry Root Weevil's will lose their innocent lives to the horrendous toxicity of raw premix? We must stop him now.:silly:

I'm sorry, but I see this as a win - win situation.

Good exposure for our sport: Travis is a professional. More than likely he will make us all proud.

Plus: One less yellow turd Suzuki. :p

i agree with mac. this stunt isnt very impressive. if say he was launching doing some flips and then pulling the cord and landing with the bike still under him and riding away then that would be sic. also i think that the forestry people or who ever keeps saying that 2 strokes are killing our would will jump all over this. there will be a lot of chemicals that will be all over the ground. plus wont the bike explode when it hits the ground because of the gas?:silly:

Travis was here in Australia a few weeks ago to compete in the Sydney supercross masters. He spoke to JJJ radio and talked about this jump. He was saying that he's gonna hit the ramp at 130+ MPH!!! but if anyone could pull it off, its Travis. He has a lot of well educated neurones in that skull, and hes is more than smart enough to know if he can do it.

Travis can do it, I have no doubt about that. This one will be interesting to see. Whoever videos this one will sell a lot of tapes!

Too many concussions do affect the ability to think clearly. We love you Travis, the 250 championship is yours for the taking. It may take a few seasons but you are "the Boy who would be king" so take care of yourself.

Well it looks like he pulled it off. I was just reading the article where he went overseas and got to drive one of the team Subaru World Rally cars, and in it he said "Jumping into the Grand Canyon was kida scary, but this was just plain fun" So I guess he has already done it. Anyone know the details?

I kind of wish I'd had the chance to fly off carriers. That is something to say you've done.

Travis had three bikes ready to go. They were painted red, white & blue. The first jump was kind of squirrely, but he pulled off a flip according to what I've heard. The second one was better. The third attempt was called off by Travis' father. That third bike is sitting in the showroom of the shop that gets all my business, South Valley Motorsports in Sandy, UT.
