ts 185 restore

I just picked up a suzuki ts185 from a buddy real cheap. It needs some work. It will not kick over , it has very low compression so low you can crank it over with your hand on the kick starter. The bike has spark, fuel, just no compression. Maybe the engine was blown. What should I check for to get this thing running?

change all the filters, and fluids. check the rings and the piston first.
