Hello,

I am new to this forum and have a quick question. I am in the process of buying a 1999 YZ 250, it has after market bars, v force reeds, pro circuit pipes and the most part is in good condition. The only thing I am wondering about is the bike won't idle. You have to keep giving it gas or else it dies on you. The owner said this was because it was rejetted and prevents from burning out all the spark plugs. This sounds very iffy to me, is this usual or ok? Also, I'm paying $2500 for this bike, not a bad deal?

Thanks for the help....

check nada.com. $2500 is too high - regardless of the add ons. you don't need to pay extra for his hop up mods. and as far as the bike not idling - that's a clever excuse...albeit bullspit it was clever. I'd pass on it. I race enduros locally and we always buy the 1 year old race bikes from the guys that race them for a season and then sell them - with full mods and new top ends. for instance I could pick up a 1 year old KTM 250 for about $3500 that is jetted, with pipe, silencer, bark busters, bars, etc etc...I'd look for something like that - especially after his "the bike is jetted bullspit". go to ecea.org if you're on the east - check the out forums for sale.

The idle thing is not quite right. The throttle response gets bad if the bikes idle. Try it out on any bike and you will see a difference. The bike can idle for 10-15 seconds, but much more and I happens.

I would be leary of a YZ 250 owner who did not know how to adjust this. You dont need tools. The adjustment is with the choke knob.

2500.00 does sound high. Is the bike in near perfect condition? Priced this high I would expect new tires and plastic.

After all, the bike is now almost 7 years old...
