Isn't Monday Veterans' Day? Being a veteran, I have long complained that Veterans, rather than federal workers, should get this day off. So, in leading by example, for the past few years I have taken a nice day to do something fun and, in the process, think back on the military, my long-lost buddies, the guys we lost, and the comraderie that can never come again. (Most of my poor employers have decided they'd rather let me go enjoy my day than listen to me explain why my position is sound). :p

This year will probably be no different. I intend to ride.

I think it is almost an obligation that all veterans go ride on Monday.

Further, because veterans may be prone to getting all lonely/sad thinking about lost buddies, other riders -- veterans or non-veterans -- would be very welcome to accompany on said rides.

Conclusion: DRN'ers, whether they served or not, should grab a veteran and take him riding on Monday. In fact, you should even buy said veteran beer after the ride. :p Veterans, however, must ride whether said accompaniment materializes or not.

Okay -- so the day is Sunday. I know our schools "observe" the holiday on Monday -- and besides, Congress has declared the whole week "National Veterans Awareness Week" -- so Monday it is.

Somber coincidence...

I was just telling a friend via Email about a buddy that I lost while we were in the Corps on deployment aboard ship.
I believe the official day is Sunday, but it is being celebrated on Monday. Don't quote me on that.
So, to all my fellow veterans: Thank you for enabling us to have the opportunnity to live and prosper in the greatest country in the world.
Remember-All gave some. Some gave all.

I was never in the military, but I always go for a big easy long ride (street or dirt) for my brother who died while in the Army.

The "free" in freedom doesn't mean the price is cheap - thanks to all you veterans.

Can't do Monday, but I'll be Jawbone Saturday, from midday on, and Sunday round the corner from the Green Mountain just up SC176. White F150 with DRN sticker in rear window and US flag flying on left hand side.

I have to extend my thanks as well to all who served in our armed forces and gave us the very freedom I enjoy. I will do my part and go for a ride on Monday with some Veterans and thank them personally. We can even ride the Vet track for fun.

KWJams!

Thank you as well!

Not having served, but having a brother who served on the Missouri during Desert Storm, I have nothing but the greatest of respect for those who have put their lives on the line to protect our freedom.

Thanks to all vets. I'll be buying one for my bro, and knocking it back with appreciation to all those who have served.
