Heard on the radio the other day about a couple that was so involved in raising a Virtual Baby online that they let their own baby starve to death. :coocoo: :|

I fear we are raising a country full of vidiots. Kids and adults that would rather play a video game or ride a virtual mx track than go out and actually ride a motorcycle.

I can see using a video game to learn a track, especially if you have never ridden that track but, to spend a nice day inside your house pretending to ride a motorcycle on your computer. Really now! :(

Nothing to flame, you are dead on. My son get's lots of strange looks from his buddies when they tell him of their weekend sitting in front of a gaming system for 18 hours each day and he tells them he played some games at night but was doing any of the various taskes involved in the restoration of his project car, went out and played golf, rode his CR, climbed down in to the canyon on the back of our place, changed the oil in his daily driver, ....

I don't get it either. I was ALWAYS outside during the day when I was a kid. Rain, snow, heat, cold, nothing stopped us. We rode bicycles in the snow, played football in the rain, built bmx jumps in 95 degree summer sunshine. I find it astounding that the kids in my neighborhood spend so little time outside. My kids are always complaining because none of the neighbor kids come out to play. The one neighbor kid knows the words to just about every kids movie out there though. The really strange thing is he's a bit overweight, I wonder that happened? It's my dream to move out of town so we can have some acreage for them to play on. Some of my fondest memories of my childhood are of making trails and forts with the neighbors in the woods behind my house. Kids would come from miles around to hang out. It's a different world now I guess......

If I have a flame it is only against myself , I have been turning lazy and playing them darn things. Since moving to a new location,not knowing anyone, getting a job working nights by myself,my freaking brain is turning to mush. The books and magazines I have are all dogeared pathetically. Recently purchased and read" MOBY DICK" God that was a hard read for me, trying to read a book on the finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls(and I thought Moby Dick was hard).Most of the crap on TV is useless.
I jump at the chance to be a den "Mom" for my kids baking cup cakes and cookies for bday parties, this weekend I am helping out at the schools carnival, and selling girl scout cookies, next weekend frying up french fries, mozzerella sticks and funnel cakes for my other daughter's band event. So gotta say one thing to any guy out there who has a wife that is a housewife or stay at home mom or any other archaic, politically incorrect term to go and give them a hug and thank them. This crap is tough not so much as in the work load but trying to keep sanity when the general media is meant to persuade you from common sense.Doctor Phil,Oprah,Jerry Springer? get a credit card and spend foolishly so you can have "power"," power to choose" (having to live the rest in your life in debt ha ha).When you are home alone this is the crap that they spew as some type of connection to the outside world.

Well I recently broke into my coin jug and rolled up some coin money for parts so things are looking up.Which was way cool since my youngest daughter is trying to learn about money,decimal points,multiplication and division(seems real strange to me all of that in one semester).So I hope after 7 hours on a rainy saturday of staring at pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters she gets the idea but I neatened up 427$ for the bike.

I am still kind of young, turning 16 in a few months, and I am also amazed by how inactive some younger kids are. I will play some games occasionaly, but i absoulutely love to go outside. Especially with this warm weather in VA already!

The government is training them to be that way. Way back when I was young and in school we exercised during PE. Now they just go out when its nice and mingle with each other. No dodgeball, someone might get hurt. No running, someone might get hurt, No smear the queer, someone might get hurt and its not PC. Big brother wants everyone to be fat and lazy as it makes them easier to herd.

I still laugh at the time I was taking my son and one of his friends out snowboarding. On the way there the friend was telling us about all the tricks he knew on a board and how he had them perfected. Well once we got to the hill it was obvious he had never been on a snowboard and eventually he said "wow it is a lot harder to snowboard than it was to learn to do it on the playstation."
I laughed so hard I could hardly drive because he was dead serious that he thought all his time on the game was going to mean he could go out and do all those tricks. Next time we invited him he declined so he could stay home and play a new game his parents had bought him

a description I have given about riding to those folks that don't, is it's like a video game, but it has real g forces involved with real speed, real centrifugal & gyroscopic forces, large leaping jumps & real penalties for mistakes.

I have been playing Reflex on the PS3 for a few weeks now.

I sometimes get that weak feeling in my stomach when I jump off a cliff or something.. It's kind of realistic. I wish I could ride that good for real.. ;)

You're right Gary, the newer games are very realistic, also very addictive. Reflex is a blast, quite challenging. It's nice for the winter time around here.

Till the MX video games simulate a 5th degree break in your leg, it will never be the same. Number 2 son has finally starting to smell the coffee, or he has a very deep plan to beat me riding this year, he has walked away from the vidiot box! He was very deep into the killing simulation battle thingies also? But its not just the video games, its the "fox" line up, even the frigging simpsons make ironic jokes about it, further rubbing it in our face: THAT there is a separation of labor in my beloved U.S.A.. OH MY GOODNESS, THE U.S.A. has an issue with over eaters and being over weight, then consequently an over burdened health care???? Geez, do you think they are related? DUH! Boy, good thing alcohol and tobacco are legal! Some peon with a political position in Illinoise will soon put an end to dirt biking as we know it. Points and condensers? What are those? :nener: Hell, you don't even have plug wires any more. How 'bout the electric brakes? VW uses them for parking brakes already. Go check the power steering fluid in a new Malibu. They don't have any. :whoa: They use electric assist built into the upper steering column. We lust had to make a large investment in equipment at the shop just to do alignments on these newer cars with stability control or electric p/s. Stability control is being required by, guess who, for 2012. They keep wanting to add all kinds of electrical safety systems to these cars, at some point you need to step back and look at the big picture. Most of us don't need all that crap.

Unfortunately that is now pretty much illegal.......it's hard to make tire monitoring and stability control out of mechanical parts. The government needs to quit telling us what we need. :think: My air pressure guage works fine and I have learned how to drive well enough over the years I could do without my car deciding how to accelerate, steer and brake.

It would be nice if a company could build a cheap vehicle without all the frills so people could afford to buy and maintain them.
