The CBD are the worst. These are the people that wouldn't show up for their own grand opening because there were protesters there. They are a spineless bunch that work thru their attorneys to close areas down using false claims. So far it has worked for them because we are more spineless than they are and we let them do these things.

It seems that MOST of us really don't give a rat's pattuty about land closures as long as our own little patch of dirt is still open or we can still go to the track and ride. When they finally get all of the open land shut down, (and they will), we will be the one's doing all of the complaining.

If you want to do something, join an organization that is active in fighting these ecowackos. Check out the American Sand Assn. www.glamisonline.org or join the AMA. The ASA is hiring their own attorneys to fight back and make the CBD prove their claims.

I know I sound like a broken record on this subject, but, over the years I have seen more land closed to our sport than you can imagine.

This is happening everywhere, not just California. Get involved or lose it all.

I abhor the way the CBD has achieved it's goals so far regarding Glamis but if there are closed area's OHVs need to stay out of them. I don't want to get into a debate about Pearson's Milkvetch because I really don't know much about the so-called reasons for the agreement between the BLM & CBD et al.

Is there any truth to the statements about stabbings, attempted murder etc? I know Glamis gets a little crazy but that sounds ridiculous and if it's really happening forget additional rangers bring in the riot police.

The statements made on the ENN website are outrageous.

“BLM has to learn to turn on the ‘no vacancy’ sign. The agency’s duty is to protect all lands it manages, and pulling Rangers from other sensitive areas to police rowdy off-roaders ignores the big picture of desert-wide protection.”

The job of the Bureau of Land Management is MANAGEMENT not protection. Public lands are for the PUBLIC not just one group or another. Get a life. Why not help out at the Salvation Army the Christmas. There are many, many Americans that could benefit from your energy. Just put your energy into something that does not infringe on the rights of others.

Every wonder why they are called tree huggers? Seems to me a lot of them are tree HUMPERS! Don't get me wrong I enjoy nature but some of these folks a just a few notches off the belt.

The Pearsons Milk Vetch is a form of cactus that people avoid like the plague. If you run over it with a dune buggy, it can blow out your tires. It is covered and uncovered by hot blowing sand, several times during the summer and during the winter by cold blowing sand. This has been happening for many, many years and the plant is thriving.

Just across the highway from Glamis, the plant is thriving. It also thrives just across the Mexican border, a little South. The ASA is doing it's own studies by actually sending people out and counting the plants. According to their preliminary studies, the plant is doing fine. This way when they go to court they will have actual proof to back up their claims, unlike the CBD.

One of the major problems with Glamis is, many people go there on holiday weekends just to party. They do not have off- road vehicles and have no desire to. They only want to party. This is the group that causes most of the problems. Many family's go there and have gone there for years to enjoy good family fun. But, now it is the party animals that we hear about. Booze, drugs, huge bonfires, vehicles, guns, fireworks. A very bad mix.:mad:

Many groups have weekend outings at Glamis where they do trash clean-up, trail repair, camp site repair and cleaning. Of course, we don't hear about these people, but, let one drunk run over a BLM officers foot and it makes front page news.

I feel it is time that we ALL become involved to the point of policing our own areas. If you see someone doing something that jeopardizes the future of a riding area, stop them and tell them. We can't depend on the BLM to enforce the rules simply because there aren't enough personal to go around. Plus they are busy defending themselves against all of the law suites by the CBD and other enviro-wacko groups.

Also, by closing large portions of these areas, it puts more of us in a smaller area. Bigger crowds in a smaller area means more problems. This is what they want. If they close an area down for plant or animal studies, then, there should be some sort of mitigation clause in place. In other words, if they close 1000 acres in a certain area to do a study, then, there should be 1000 acres opened up nearby to compensate for the closed land. Otherwise, sooner or later, there will be nothing left. This is something we suggested to the BLM at a recent BLM meeting and they are considering it. Whatever that means?:ugg:

It is up to us to make these things happen. We can sit here in front of our puters and do nothing or we can become active. Join up, go to meetings, let your voice be heard. These are PUBLIC lands. Paid for by the PUBLIC thru our taxes and OHV fees. If the organizations hired to manage the PUBLIC land is not doing the job they are paid to do, then, they need to be forced to do their jobs or be replaced. The only way to force them to do the job is PUBLIC PRESSURE

There are three types of people in this world. The type that make things happen. The type that watch things happen. And the type that go,' wow, what happened? ' If we ALL don't become involved in this battle, then someday we will go, wow, what happened to all of our places to ride.

Ahhhh, California

Did my time there for 5 years, while they raped my bank account with their incredible taxes & regulation costs. Do I miss it? Sure, for the weather. But I'm getting used to riding in the snow now, so it's not a big deal.

One of the major reasons I left (I have a job offer in San Diego that, in many ways, would be many times better than my current) was to get away from all the nuts & asswipes. I respect anyone that can deal with it, and be reasonably happy. Unfortunately, now all the Cali folks are moving to Colorado, & quickly transforming it into the new Cali. A little too close to home. Good luck out there.

Why, just last week I was going down the 405 freeway and I accidentally cut some guy off and all he did was fire a warning shot over my head.:scream:

I did a little flat tracking in Kansas. It was a good state for that because it is so,,,,,ahhhhh,,,,,well,,,,FLAT!;) The people are very nice though.

Don't let your guard down and don't think this is just happening in California. BSWIFT hit the nail on the head when he said it is about freedom.

NVR FNSH is right in one respect (and Ol'89er said it as well) -- we have to police our own! If we see someone violating the "No Trespassing" areas (even if they are public areas), we need to put the kibosh to it! I know it sucks that sometimes they close the best spots, but if we respect those areas, maybe (but doubtfully) we'll get them back. It is true that when you have 200,000 people out on 100,000 acres, then you take out 50,000 acres, you are going to double the impact on that area, giving KW's "greennecks" more to complain about, but if we leave the areas clean of litter and respect the signs, they'll have little to complain about, since a good wind will erase all evidence of anyone being there.

I've seen this happen here, due to a disrespect of private property, and I don't like it. I do understand the property owners, but public land is a different story. It belongs to ALL of us. It's like when you have a kid that doesn't want to share the toys. If he doesn't want to share, he's the one that doesn't get to play with the toy. If they (the greens) can't share, maybe they're the ones that need to be shut out.

Enough rambling by me. Get out there and get involved everybody!
