Sell it and buy something else. Not trying to be snide, but there's not a lot you can do with it. My wife had a TTR 225 which is essentially the same bike (I think the suspension is a bit better, and it has a plstic tank). it was heavy and underpowered.

I have a TTR 250 which is much better, but I've grown out of it and am looking for something faster and with quicker steering.

So my advice is to put any money you have towards a new bike and not through money into your XT. You'll be happier and preobably spend less in the end.

magellan is right - i still ride my xt225 in town and official dirt roads (license required) but it has numerous shortfalls for a real trail bike - weight, suspension, gearing, etc... is a great bike for around town but above 45mph on the road and it is working very hard. on eastern trails, i am always searching for a gear that it does not have. as for suspension, i have had my wife's ttr125le higher in the air that the xt225 - suspension is way to soft and rebound is slow - feels like it sticks in the dirt if jumped even a foot or so.

xt 225 power

get a fmf power core 4 exhaust, get it getted to a 140 jet, take out the snorkel out of the top of the air box, bigger back sproket will give it more top end. This is what i have done to may TTr 225 should work on your XT 225 exhaust alone will give it 5 to 10 more hp.

Sell it and buy something different.

Throwing money at the XT225, in a vain effort to make it into something it isn't, is an exercise in futility.

You are slightly confused. A bigger back sprocket will slow you down and make the "power" more abrupt. A larger front sprocket will increase your top speed but the power will be more spread out.
It's just like a mountain bike...

ummmm not to be a jerk but dont listen to this guy... none of this will make a big difference and i am hoping this was just a joke. get a new bike, i think you will be much happier. take a look at 125's or some 200's (2 st) or something.

I don't believe there is such a thing as a "strong" XT225 . . .

it is a foof bike. Many people have wasted many dollars trying to make things something they are not. It's like teaching a pig to fetch, putting socks on a rooster, insert old timey cliche' here.
