The biggest hold up for me on the street legal bike is JR. He needs to get the cycle endorsement. I've had my since 1977 :nener: Now in day's it's a lot tougher to get a holed of? I can't leave my best riding partner home. Plus he needs all the seat time he can get! :yeehaw:

Because of my "advanced interest in minibikes/motorscooters and uncanny inability to stay in my yard" (according to a Juvenile Court Judge presiding over my 9th time in front of him in over the course of several years during my childhood) I was forced to get my CY before I got my OCY in 1973.. :ride:

2TRAKR - You still planning on Sunday?? I am hoping to be able to hook up with you at Horseshoe to show you around some.. I am unable to ride whoops but would love to "demo" those connecting two tracks between our loops and maybe ride some of the west side of the "Shoe" with you. If I am not there by 10 am (and you plan on riding all the loops anyway) please do the loop of Horseshoe that stays on the east side of 184th first (biggest loop). That way if I have to arrive late (takes awhile for my night drugs to wear off) I will have an idea of where you r at - sound workable?? Also, that section is pretty whooped out, I wouldn't be able to ride it with you anyway :(
If you had another agenda that is fine - GO FOR IT and have fun!!
Hope to see you (and others) Sunday!

Woodsy, I'm still planning to ride. I'll post again once I determine where I'll be & when, but the plan is still for 10AM at the HH PLot, which I believe is the directions you gave. Weather page says mid 40s this weekend so I'm hoping the snow/ice go away as I don't have any studs in the tires.

Im still in. No way I am gonna miss a ride in my backyard, Ground is looking green by me in Muskegon. So Id say we are good to go. There may be a little snow in spots still in the shadows. But nothing to worry about.

Yep, things are looking REAL good here!! That warm wind took a bite out of the snow cover for sure!!!
Larry is planning on it too guys. I gave him permission to intro himself as "a friend of Woodsy's" if I wasnt there and that he would be among freinds :) He said he thinks he knows who you are Pat and now with YZMAN going he wont have to embarass himself by admitting he hangs out with yours truly!!!
Hey Mar - the "OLD LOT" at Horseshoe is no more. Even the entrance into the parking area is now blocked off. THe new lot is about 1000 feet North of the old on the same side of the road - cant miss it!!!

Woodsy,

Thanks for the directions. MapSource says it's 138 miles from the house to there, should be easy to find (our DS courses for Rites of Spring get to within 10 miles of the Holton Parking Lot, so I "kinda" know the area). Truly looking forward to meeting you.
Looking forward to hooking up with several of the gang from this board tomorrow.
I'm still planning to be there by 10AM (maybe sooner).
I'll ride the north/east loop clockwise first and stop by the truck on the way through to see if anyone is there. Cell will be on while on the way there, off while I'm riding - 989-751-6863

70 Marlin - getting a cycle endorsement for your boy is EASY. Around here (sure similar available by you) we have a trainer/tester dude that you call to make an appointment with. You bring a legal bike (used my XR at the time) and he sets up a bunch of cones and you do tricks for him. Like turn around in the width of 1 lane w/o putting a foot down. Easy stuff. Pay him, get a certificate, go to the SOS and take a test (and pay more $).

Glad to hear you will be going the correct "direction" on that loop 2trakr :) sorry, I couldnt resist harrassing you even before we meet (good grief, I sure hope this guy isn't 6' 9" and offended easily ;)
Have a safe trip down and I am REALLY looking forward to tommorrow as well!!! Hope to see you all soon!

Well here I sit in front of the computer. While Woodsy, 2tracker, marlin + 1 , Larry, and Huby contunue to ride. :(

But I did have a great morning ride with them.Got to ride all of Horseshoe trails.

The rest of the fellas were heading down to the Holton loops to get the GPS info down.

I had to go home so the wife could go to work.

It was a great ride. Not a spot of dust...Imagine that... :rotfl:

I got a 1st hand look at Larry do a low side crash around a corner

Took the ol YZ400 out there. Man that bike is strange compared to my 250X. love the 400's power. Hate the handling. Way too front end heavy.

So it was a great ride with great friends.

Absolutely a great ride. Very nice to put faces to names/sigs. You guys are great!
Major thanks to Chris for giving me the $.50 tour of Holton and his house. Was able to GPS all of both loops with some beachin' night riding. When we got back to the PLot Young Ted was there waiting for us (wow).
Why isn't there a freakin McDonalds on the west side of the state?! Didn't hit a fast food joint until Mt Pleasant..

YZMan -
I've worked as dishwasher & cook at a "family" restaurant. I know what went on there (the whole kitchen staff was high school age, me included). Fast Food is just a different spin on the topic.. Yet I still eat at those places - there is just some food/items that I will NOT eat there ;-)

yea i get service calls into, the mcd's, bk, and many of the other restaurant's we all like, and i will not say the things i have seen, in those back rooms we normally dont get to see. i have been in more than one panel that there is so much grease in the air it starts causing breakers to fail, i mean the breakers and all other service equipment are just covered inside and out with that crap thats in the air, this ofcourse causes all kinda need things to go wrong, but like he said i still eat at some of te place's others noway in hell im going to eat there.

A few years back (ok, more then a few..) I was employed by a German based food processing machinery company and did some consulting work here in the states for a local turkey processing plant. As well as other "value added" product, this plant produced Cheese Hotdogs of which I was very fond of (all most as good as burnt squirrel). I was talking to one of their maintenance people and asked how much of these he ate. He said "follow me, I have something to show you..". We walked into a small room and there was a centrefuge being fed by a huge hopper, it had a conveyor belt coming out of the front of it with a steady stream of "pureed" meat on it and a 1 pound coffee can under it.
The maintenance person reaches above the hopper and pulls a turkey breast bone with small pieces of skin hanging from it (all the meat had been removed BEFORE it went into the centrefuge), He said "this is what is going into that 'fuge - the fuge is suppose to separate the remaining edible meat from the bone, the bone is suppose to be pureed and ends up in that little can down there, the rest of it (the stuff hotdogs are made of) goes onto the conveyor. He also said that the little coffee can gets emptied once a shift if needed  . After that little show, he had no hard time convincing me that he was serious about not having eaten a hotdog for a very long time :aj:

Switching back from the eating category; here's the low quality version of the map you guys helped with. Since this trail is so "tight" (dense is a better way to put it) I've overlaid the standard trail representation with a .5 point line; basically so if you zoom in you can see the actual trail instead of just a purple smudge. Only a couple other trails in the lower that need this technique applied to see the trail (hint: Gladwin is not one of 'em).
Here's the PDF file: http://www.gldsmc.org/public/cedar creek orv trail.pdf
