This is what happens when you delay maintenance even for an extra day. I will not name the rider to avoid embarrassing him but I will say he does normally maintain his bikes better then ost anyone I know. In this case he knew the valves were getting tight but wanted to get 2 days riding in before tearing it down. As he was cruising down a back straight it happened
No that is not an experimental Suzuki piston with a valve in the center. When the valve dropped it snapped off and was driven into the top of the piston twice. The first time it punched a hole the second time it locked itself in the piston. Luckily the head looked salvageable with just a minor gouge
