A 125 will be tough for trail riding, unless you modify it (flywheel weight, etc). A 250 four-stroke could work for you, if you feel comfortable with the weight and power. Just remember that more power means trees come at you a lot faster. I think only you can decide if you're ready for a 250. It's taken me 5 years to finally move up to a full-size bike.
