Just bought my first KDX 200, a 2001. I have rode a buddies 220R with a pipe and was very impressed with the low end grunt and snapiness of the bike with the pipe. I mainly ride trails and woods. Just looking for opinions on real life experiences with your pipes and what to get. Am also thinking of a reed vavle upgrade. Any comments are greatly appreciated!!!

First off, welcome to DRN.

If you read the link in the top thread, you'll find lots of answers.

Another thing to do, is a search - the topic has been covered many times.
The 200 doesn't have quite the torque of the 220 (haven't ridden a 220, so going by hearsay), but at a guess, you'll like the torque pipe. It really is personal preference - for the terrain I ride, I should like the torque pipe, but didn't, so stuck with the PC pipe.

Radvalves - I've got one just because I could get it for cheap, but couldn't honestly tell if it made any difference. Again, it's been covered many times (trying hard not to sound rude as heck, this is your first post & first KDX)

Oh, if you notice that the bike makes a racket at idle, it's probably just the KIPS valve, solution is put a quart of oil in the gearbox & see if that helps quieten it down.

Hope that helps some & honestly, there's heaps of good info in here if you take some time to search & read. If you can't find a direct answer to any question you have, feel free to post a new thread - it's just that certain topics come up every couple of days. ;)

Well put Michelle.  Welcome aboard Binboy!  This page is a great source of information on the KDX.  It's well worth your time to read the first post on this page.  Also take a breather and check out the rest of the site, lots of good mods being made to MX'ers out there too.  Enjoy and see ya on the trails! :yeehaw:

Hey Binboy. Glad to have ya here. I've got a Pro Circuit pipe and 304 silencer on my '01 KDX200. And I gotta tell ya, I love it! It really adds a great deal of top-end overrev while sacrificing just a little on the bottom. As far as reed valves go, getting the whole rad valve will not increase performance more than just the reeds itself. It costs $100 more and it's really not a bang-for-your-buck mod. I put Carbon Tech's High Tension reeds in my bike and it greatly improves throttle response in the mid-range and top-end. However, there are 2 types of reeds that they make: LT(low-tension) and HT(high tension). LT's are for enhanced bottom snap response while HT are more stiffer for enhanced topend hit response. It all depends on what type of riding you do. Good Luck!

I heard that Pro Circuit has a new Platinum 2 pipe for the KDX200. It is supposed to be like the FMF Torque pipe? Has anyone got any info on this?

The Pro Circuit Vendor forum seems to be dead. I have not gotten any responses to my post there.
