What premix oil for break-in after top end rebuild?

Hi guys,

I'm new here...actually my first post. I'm doing a top end rebuild on my 01 KDX 220 with a Wiseco piston.

By the way, just for the record, the original piston looked great with 5 seasons of trail riding with no evidence of skirt failure. They cylinder looked great also. The KIPS was rather gunky, but operational.

Just wondering what kind of premix I should use for break-in. I usually run Honda HP2 at 32:1 which is a synthetic oil. Do you guys think this will be okay, or what would you recommend?

Premix oil

What you are using will work fine in the ratio you are using. I personally use Mobil MX2T @ 40:1. I don't change anything to do a break in. Remember, adding oil to your premix ratio also leans your air/fuel ratio!

Thanks Rhodester. Glad to know that I don't have to drain the tank. Just got it buttoned up late last night. Should be ready for the break-in after work today.

Regards.

Any quality synthetic at 40:1 should do.
