1985 kdx200 - mikuni carb
Here is why i ask
who ever assembled my carb last, installed the main jet
right into the needle jet. and left the main jet holder
flopping around in the bowl.

the main jet and needle jet almost look like 1 piece,
they will not come apart.

Can i run ok without the jet holder?

What exactly does a jet holder do?

Or should i just buy a new needle jet and main jet
and install it correctly.

Thanks

I'm having trouble picturing this. Do you have a picture?

No picture, i tried but was not clear.

The main jet holder is a plastic ring with a coupling in the middle, it supposed to be between the needle jet
and the main jet.

Also everywhere i look it says to use a 280 main jet.
My Clymer book says factory was a 260.

This is sure a good learning experience since im a newbie.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like to are referring to the needle guide. The needle guide is pressed into the body of the carb.

Regarding the jet size, you should use a main jet that works on your bike, for the conditions you are riding. 280, 260...whatever...is only a starting point.
