I was told the kdx200 I purchased last fall was a 1990. Strangely though, the head says E1 on it and the VIN also has E1 in the string. I ran it through the buykawasaki VIN search and it said "the warrantee expired in 7/90". What does all this mean. Not that I'd be upset, but recent timing threads make me wonder whether to set at 19 or 21 degree BTDC.
Also, I'm running a cylinder from what I'm told is a 1990---which may be the more important issue regarding the timing. Thanks!! :worship:

My 90 (E2) also says E1 on the head, not sure about the VIN......

There is a difference in the radiators shroulds for 89 - 90,...

type the full vin in the KAW website and it should spit out what you got

Don't remember the site giving me the model year. All it showed was warranty expired 7/90 and no product recalls.
Also, the '89 and '90 radiator shrouds share the same part number.

Hey guys,

I have a 1990 as well and it has E1 in the string of the VIN. I typed in my VIN on the Kawi website and got the year, warranty info and recall info. The year comes up just above the window with the warranty info etc....

If that doesn't work try calling up Kawasaki USA. Here's the #
949-770-0400. They were pretty helpful in getting through red tape when I imported my used KDX from the US to Canada. They might be able to answer your questions.

89 has 49089-5074-6w left
-5075-6w right

90 is 49089-5093-6w left
-5094-6w right

You need to dig a little deeper researching it bud

It would seem I goofed on the buykawasaki part search!
You are correct. Thanks for the kind words--think I'll research a Bud out of the cooler.
