IMO the CR is the best bike with the worst engine-will not suit you by the sounds of it,the KTM has a great engine but needs attention to the suspension and turning, the RM is a good allrounder, the YZ has a great engine but IMO the suspension set up is a little firm(not terrible though)the KX is a bit old in the tooth now-it needs a better engine and new ergos. You will get many opinions on this but it depends on if you want to but it and ride or buy and modify-if riding it straight out of the crate is important then it has to be the YZ or RM(i dont like the RM relaiblity but beleive its got better in 02)

no question, KTM, suspension changes, if needed are cheap, engine mods are not...KTM doesn't need engine mods, it has the engine, better parts stock then the rest, it is without question KING!

best bike

sounds like your a beginner, you need some experience racing any bike in the process you can tell us what bike is the best, I mbilieve they are all good and its 90% riderand cash to modify your bike as you need new parts. I went to the pittsburgh free-style motoX show last night and watched the worlds bestriders do thier tricks jumping 75 feet, I went into the pit area and checked out the bikes, not one wsas stock so just cause the Yamaha won doesnt meen you can go buy a stock YZ and do the same tricks.

95% rider, 5% bike. pick a color their all good. But they each have their own specific traits that make them unique. hondas are reliable and have a good chassis and fit and finish. KTM's have the most powerful stock motor, and come with pretty much everything you could want in a bike. However, they cost more to keep up and there arent as much after market parts, and almost no graphics for them. Im not really knowledgeable about suzukis, and i have a yamaha and over all its a good bike. pretty reliable, and has ok detailing. However the bike doesnt feel nearly as tight as the same year honda or kawasaki. Speaking of Kawi's, they are good bikes, but they are getting behind in technology. their bikes are getting outdated fast. i wouldnt buy a kawi if i were you, i am expecting some major improvements in the next year or two so id wait. i think that if you are paying for your own stuff and you have a part time job, id go with the honda. they have plenty of power and a lot of hidden power that just needs to be massaged out of the bike. just my $.02 hope it helps.:silly:

THE ONE YOU'RE RIDING. Seriously they are all good, set it up well and put in saddle time and don't read too many magazines, you will be very happy (and probably faster than me, like everybody else):p

I have had friends ask me a similiar question. My response was, 'the one you see for the right price when you have the money.' Having friends w/bikes is a good thing. you can try out different models to see how they fit you. some bikes fit small people better and some (usually KTM's) fit tall people better. If you are new to riding, then it usually takes a little time to even determine what you do and don't like about a bike. at that time, you can make a more educated purchase. good luck, whatever bike you get, you will like, because it will be yours......:D

Any 125 will be competitive but not all of them hold up well. The Suzuki requires lots of maintenance as well as a new clutch and basket. The Honda is without a doubt the most dependable. The Yammy and Kawi are in the middle. This is my opinion based on experience not brand loyalty.
