buddy of mine, pretty much a beginner, has a ttr 225, '02 model, that has some melted plastic as a result of his car burning up (long story). he doesn't know much about bikes yet, so i offered to run down the parts for him. called the local dealer, & the best prices they can find are $74 for the front fender, $47 for the # plate, $33 for fork booties, & $92 for the shrouds--for an air-cooled bike! i was shocked; those prices make ktm parts look very cheap. the explanation was that nobody makes aftermarket stuff for the bike. can anybody help me find this stuff cheaper, preferably from a source that my dealer can order from? thx.

Good luck. A buddy of mine has a TTR 125 for his daughter. I tried to find aftermarket plastic at all of the companies and couldn't. He had to go to the dealer. I can't remember what he paid, but it wasn't cheap.

I just called my local Yammy dealer:

No aftermarket.

Front fender: $84.05
Rear fender: $53.30
Tank Shrouds: $145.00 ea.
Side panels: $98.86 for one, $95.00 for the other
Tank: $362.00

Sickening!!

It's because the TTRs, just like XRs, DRs, KLXs, and other "non-competition" bikes don't have the sales volume that CRs, KXs, etc do. So there isn't as much money in it for the aftermarket companies to start making plastic for them.

Try negotiating with the dealer. There is a HUGE mark up on factory parts. Do you know anyone there that can get them at cost? Insurance may cover it. Homeowners, auto etc due to the fire.

thanks, mitch, those are good suggestions. but remember, homeowners' ins. won't cover a vehicle with its own engine. the auto ins. is covering the car, less depreciation & deductible, but he is having to fix the bikes himself. i'll remind him to try to get a break from the dealer, as he is looking at 100's of dollars for these parts.

I feel your friends pain, I recently tried to located aftermarket plastic for my KLX...what a joke! Only Maier carried a few things, the rest is OEM (big $$).

We just put a 2002 YZ front fender on a buddie's TT225. Trimmed it like you said, perfect fit.

If you have white spots in you plastic. Take a heat gun and heat up the spot. White dissapears.

I checked with a dealer and the yz85 and ttr125l rear fenders have the same part numbers.I think you can get aftermarket yz85 plastic.

Endo the only prob is that the tank and shrouds are different.. Sounds like front and rear fendrers work fine tho..

ps - if you have a ttr125l, put the bbr exhaust on it! Makes it sound like a 250f!!
