Anyone have a 2006 XC yet? Any info would be great! Looking at getting the 250XC but no one has much info as of yet. Dirtbike mag had a great read on them and with 2 stroke sales ending in 2007 guess its bout time to get one!

2006 250XC? Thats my new bike. The idea on the XC line is a bit of a "ready made" motocrosser for the woods. The suspension is stiffer than the XC-W but not as stiff as the SX. Motor wise though, it seems to be more enduro than moto (with the SX tranny). I'll have some more imput after I log some time on it.

I don't think that 2007 is the end of 2-strokes, I think there will still be closed coarse 2-strokes. I rode a 20006 XC 200, handled great, suspension was great for hare scrambles, motor was torquey and nice and light bike.

The local KTM shop just got a 300XC in. It is one sweet looking bike. No one has ridden it yet so I have no idea how it is. I want to get a test ride on a 200XC and see how it is.

I got a chance to ride all the new KTM's a few days ago. The 200 and the 300 are very very good. The 250 gets the job done very well too its just all about what you want. For single track woods riding, I would have to give the nod to the W model. The XC suspension is pretty firm and works best when riden hard. The XC is targets fast rough GNCC type events and it shows. For folks needing a thrill, the 450XC is the ticket...its strong!

Fuzz,

What is your take of the 200XC and 250XC with respect to MX ( in the old guy class any displacement) and trail riding? Does the 200 handle any different? How is the 200 power compared to the 250.

After logging some time fiddling and riding my 250XC, the motor is very stout. The suspension would be fine for outdoor type MX and/or most folks jumping abilities. When I rode the 200 I was sad that I had already got my 250 but now, I am really happy with the 250. If your riding leans mostly towards single track racing, the 200 I think is still better. If you enjoy the faster stuff and maybe some moto, I think the 250 is just a bit better. But smaller guys (less than say, 170lbs) would prolly lean toward the 200 regardless.

oh yeah, the motors....The 200 is a very good woods "racing" motor. It ihas very smooth and strong power. The 250 runs like an enduro bike should and can be changed into more SX type power for nearly no money or effort.
It sure is hard to explain how bikes run!

I'm thinking of going orange instead of green for 2006, cause I think it would handle mx better?
