just pull out the baffle. makes a huge differnce. take out those two screws at the end and pull it out thats all

I have an '87 that I rode for years. I don't believe they made any changes at all to the engine/gearbox/electrical. Obviously, they chopped the suspension, removed the lights (but not the lighting coil), and changed the colors, but that's about it that I'm aware of.

I put on an XR's Only Competition exhaust, UNI airfilter with the airbox snorkel removed, and rejetted per Xr's Only's recommendations. Furthermore, I needed a new chain and sprockets. I ride in alot of soft sand here in NW Florida so I decided to gear down and go one tooth bigger on the rear sprocket (48T up from the stock 47T).

The end result was great. Throttle response was nearly 2-smoke like, very crisp, clean and would build revs quickly. The pipe is obviously louder than stock, but louder in a low bass type of thump. At low to mid RPM's it's pretty quiet, but at higher RPM's it puts out a note, but still not unpleasant in my opinion. The pipe is a Supertrapp design, so obviously it is tunable by adding or removing discs. With the gearing change and air/fuel mods, the little 200 would carry my 190lb butt through the soft sand with ease, through ALL 6 gears. Before, with the stock setup, I couldn't pull 3rd gear without bogging down in the same soft sand. Top speed was hardly compromised, my speed record before, (with stock speedo) was about 72mph (75 down a hill). After the mods I could still pull ~69mph on a long straight.

I've done almost the same thing that snaggleXR4 has, except I've put an FMF pipe on it and I'll be going to a 48 T sprocket after X-mas. The Uni filter is great. It really helps. Hey snaggle, the stock chain length will fit a 48 T right? Oh, and how do you get that dang seat off?:think I still can't figure it out!:cool:

Where did you find an FMF exhaust for a 200(mxkid)?? In my research i could only find Cobra,supertrapp,and Biggun(race exhaust 400$).

How long ago was it we went over this?!? Take the two nuts off from under the rear fender, pick the back of the seat up so the studs clear the frame, and slide the seat back and off.

It should be on the FMF site. It's The PowerCore IV Spark Arrestor. HillClimberr and bigbore, I took those nuts off, but its like my seat is stuck or something. I can actually pick the bike up by the seat without the nuts and it'll still stay on. Well, I'll try it again. At least I know that I didn't miss a bolt or something. Just need more elbow grease!!:)

Sure you took the right ones off? Didn't take a fender fastener off by mistake? It shouldn't be stuck on like that. Look underneath the fender and see if there is a lot of rust or something around the base of the studs that might be causing them to stick to the frame cross member.

Yes, the stock chain should work. However, if your current chain has been on for a while then it has stretched. This will wear the new rear sprocket out prematurely if installed with an old chain. Just warning you.

About removing the seat. There are two bolts, a few inches apart going straight down through and into the bottom of the fender. You might want to remove the side panels so you can see better. If it is stuck wiggle and pry it around, spray wd40 up on the bolts etc., it should lift up. Then pull back, and simultaneously push down on the front of the seat, by the gas tank.

If you still don't have any luck, have somebody else look at it. Don't tear stuff up just trying to get it off. Good luck.
