Hey, I'm sort of pondering moving up from my YZ125, to a bigger bike. I mostly ride trails, and open areas like Gorman in CA. I don't race, just ride. I've also been riding for about a year.

Anyways, I've been looking at some 1995-1997 xr400/600/650s, and they're about in my price range ($2500 or so).

I'm a big guy, about 6', 250 lbs. I'm 16 years old, also. I've been riding my 125 for about a year.

How well would an XR bike work for me? I've seen some great deals on 400s, 600s and 650s (mid 90's models) How reliable are they, and how good are they for trail riding, and just general screwing around? Is a 650 too big for me (remember, 16, 6', 250 lbs), or is a 400 too small for me? Thanks in advance for any input.

a 400 would be fine the 600 is way to heavy. how is the 125 at your weight doing?

Blue for You!

For the same money you should be able to get a Yamaha 98-99-00 YZ/WR400/426. They are light years ahead of the XR's in all aspects. They are reliable and as you ride faster, easier to control. You will love it! :ride: Even better if you wait you would probably find a KTM from 00-01 in the mid 2's.
