its happenend and now i need a new one ...i found the pieces sat on top of the piston !!i tried to locate one today but was told you cannot buy that part on its own....300 quid for a new carb!!i dont think so....this is where i turn to you MY FRIENDS in my time of need...who knows where i can get one??i need the cast aluminium part only, this fixes to the pivot bar via two screws.
the bike is an xr600rt 1996 model..
if i try a breakers yard what are the simmilar models that will open up my options xlr/slr etc ?can i buy from keihin direct ??
also whilst the motors in bits (again)i read that you can remove the auto decompressor off the cam.....this piddly thing gave me real grief back in may..i did the full monty from mains up aand installed the motor and started up to hear ticking real bad,so bad i took it straight back out and proceeded to find out whhat was going on.
i had to (after much messing about)take the cam to bits and stretch the minute little spring which is supposed to re cock the floating cam.then it worked ok but i could always here it ticking ever so slightlly....
can i get rid of it??do i remove the one way clutch aswell??
in doing this will it mean i'll be kickiing it like a one legged bloke in an ass kicking contest ????
awiating answers please
cheers
andy

Hey,
Check out Xrsonly.com. They have a billet one especially for the 600, and for the exact reason you just mentioned. Furthermore, for OEM parts, check out partsfish.com. They have everything OEM for your XR, and free shipping over $50. Good luck.
