I am considering getting a tt-r125l for my wife and a tt-r225 for myself. I realize that a yz would have much more power. we would not be racing, mainly riding trails. I like the price of these bikes as we can get them both for under $5,500. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these two tt-r's. My wife is 110lbs and I am 210 lbs. I don't have much concern about her on the 125, but I am a little concerned about me on the 225. Thanks for any input.

Thanks, I would really like a 250 but the price jump is $1,700. Anyone know why it is so much for 25 cc's?

The XR250R is a much better bike than the TT-R225. The XR disc brakes front and back, better suspension with more travel and is just a better bike. It is more technologically advanced than the TT-R225.

what about a KDX 200 or 220? or Xr200 even? I have rode a XR200 before and they fly for a 200 4stroke.

I bought a TTR 225 for my wife, she loves it, cause she can play in the woods in first gear all day, I hate it cause it weighs a ton and has very dated technology. I would recommend a XR 250 or KDX 200/220 for you, the suspension, brakes and power are much better.

My wife has had her TTR125 for a few months now and really loves it. It's the perfect beginner bike. It has surprising torque that lets her be in the wrong gear without stalling. 210 lbs seems a little large for a TTR225, but I'm sure it would carry you, though you would probably be more comfortable on a bigger framed bike.

I've got 2 TTR 125 for my boys

Ages 10/13. We race Hare Scrambles and do some serious trail riding with them. Over all I think they are the ideal bike for them. No peaky 2 srtoke power band on them,(I wonder why they would make a 80cc bike soooo peaky, that they're hard for the beginner to ride??)
Boy "A" has a power roll pipe and silencer on it, Boy "B" has a muffler spacer from Power roll, I have a bigger carb for boy "A"'s when he get a little faster on it. The silencer has spacers discs to adjust the power on it.
The only thing I did to the bike was to make a skid plate out of a old sign and with a small angle iron trim @ it and make a 1/4" steel chain guard, (the stock one is crap). Over all the only problems has been starting cold. It's not hard, but annoying.
This size bike is soooooo perfect for kids, much better stuff than the XR 100, I see Suzuki and Kawi are comming out with thiers.
TTR 225 has awide tank, heavy, mushy suspension, like a dual sport, (I thought about getting one) 250 is kinda like the XR. Both are old technology. A mid size good trail riding bike is dificult to find. I bought a KDX 200 and loved it!! ATK 250/260/125 are great rides too.
Good luck
Joe
