Can someone please tell me what's wrong with my girlfriends py 80 and how to sort the problem out...
The kickstart seems to jam about half way down and then it flicks back up and it wont kick back down, you have to leave it then you can kick it again (still only gets half way thou)...

Can anyone please help me as we really need it to be fixed a.s.a.p

any help much appreciated...

It sounds like you may have seized the engine up then. Without tearing it down, it could be several points, none of which are easily checked without teardown. Depending upon parts availability, you could be looking at a difficult time to tear it down and fix it. There is also a good chance the cost of repair will be higher than the cost of finding another bike would be.

Odds are that one or more of the crank, piston, clutch, cam drive (not sure if this is a 4 stroke or 2 stroke?), possibly even the transmission could be jammed. You'll have to tear it down to find out why it won't turn over. If you have to pay someone to do it, I am fairly certain your bill will be a good chunk of finding another bike.

Good luck with it and pray it is something minor and can easily be fixed for cheap.

Right we sorted the bike out now, it starts and runs, oh and Timber Pig it's a 2stroke self mixer, and it's semi-auto... but it's all sorted we just replaced the kickstart and it's fine now, just a little petrol and oil leak and the throttle sticks open... Apart from that it's ok...

Can someone please tell us how to stop the throttle sticking open please?

Thanks guys

Glad to hear it was minor and you got it fixed.

To stop the throttle from sticking, pull the slide out of the carb and ensure the slide bore is clean, no dirt, gum etc. Then check the cable routing to make sure there are no kinks or points where it is binding up. Lube the cable, check the throttle grip and make sure it moves freely. Clean any junk off the slide if you get some pushed out from the cable and reassemble. If that doesn't fix it, your cable may have to be replaced, as it is likely the cause if it keeps sticking and everything else is good.
