i posted before about my 01 yz250f only running with the choke on...it had been sitting (gas petcock leaks so float bowl was full) for about 2 years...anyway i've cleaned the carb twice and even had the dealer rebuild it...it's a little better but still pretty much the same...if i turn the fuel screw out about 4 turns (1.5 is stock), it will sort of idle with the choke off, but it still bogs pops and shoots flames out the exhaust when i gas it. seems to run fine with the choke on still...even rode it a bit and it seemed ok maybe just a tad short on power. Any other ideas? a buddy of mine thinks it could be valves?
