I just bought a 01 KDX 200 that needs a top end rebuild. The guy I bought it from said it is all original and it just wore out from use. So how do I know what to replace? Can I get a way with just doing the piston and rings? Can anybody suggest an online store for parts? Thanks guys. Oh yeah first post!!! Woo :yikes: Hoo

The only way to tell if the cylinder is okay is to take it apart and look/measure it. My 2000's cylinder was fine when I did the top end. I replaced the piston, rings, gaskets, wrist pin and wrist pin bearing. Check the sticky post at the top of the page for top-end instructions.

Yeah you need a set of calipers and a service manual to check tolerances. I've had good luck with world of power sports.com for O.E.M. parts

MXsouth is great little shop but they are 99% mail order. Meaning they don't have anything in stock. It all gets drop shipped. I use em sometimes cause they are down the street and can get anything in the store in a week.
