'02 CR 250 Bottoming out

I just bought an '02 CR 250 - I just started racing, and don't really know too much about my bike. The problem I'm having is that the front suspension seems to be to soft and is bottoming out easily. I've tried adjusting the compression adjuster but it doesnt seem to help much. I'm 6'2" and weigh 200 lbs. Would stiffer springs help or maybe changing the oil height? There are posts like this one but not with my same configuration, weight - bike. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes to both. Oil hieght and springs would stiffen up compression but if it is stock set up and you have the money get a tuner to upgrade for you.

would a stiffer rear spring really help a bike from bottoming out? i hate a bike with black under the fender.
