1998 RM 250 potential?

I have a 98 rm 250. It's jetted and all stock except for the vertex piston. It is just not as fast as i'd like it to be. I'd like a very powerful and hard hitting power band. Does this motor have the potential to do this with porting and the other essential parts. I know it should have a good amount judging by ports but i have not heard all that much about this bike. Any sugestions? Eric, i know you offer Mo Better porting but do you do anything like the power i'm looking for? I havnt seen anything similar on you site.

I dunno if its the same for 250's, but i got an 1998 rm 125 that i just sent down to eric to get ported (hasnt got there yet though). It'll be interesting to see the difference.
