manufacturers do not sell different ratio transmissions, only different size front and rear sprockets which allows you to gear a bike down (better for trails) or up (better for high speed)

That is not always a true statement. There have been several times a company has made a moto version and then took the same platform and made it into a woods bike. Adding an 18inch rear, softer suspension, and then removed the narrower 4th and 5th gears and changed them to taller gears. I think that is what Bwalker is talking about.

Yes I was referring to a "wide ratio" transmission gear set.
Looks like the wr450 gear set will work so I will research that.
