I don't know that clear coating over your graphis will help much of anything at all.

What will help, is if you clear coat the fuel tank prior to applying your graphics. This can help to seal up the pourous plastic of the tank and help to keep the light ends of the fuel from permeating through and killing your graphic adhesive.

3m is the adhesive used i think, but I know here in Australia that you can get clear sheets that you put over your graphics.

I got some from MotoSport Outlet recently. I believe it's under Factory Effex. Works great over oem graphics and on rear fender to protect the plastic.

a bit of nail polish around the edges, then use Minwas Water pased Poly crylic (paoly urathate) in the high gloss flavor (available at walmart paint section). Its tough, clear, and very flexible. You can even sand and buff it if you get enough coats on. Non toxic, and water based so it should not attack plastics or decals.
