I'm looking for a flywheel weight for a '79 yz400. Does anybody have a lead on where I might find one? I tried Steahly and they don't have anything for that old of a bike, and had no suggestions on where to find one.

Any other suggestions on toning this bike down a little bit?

Thanks
Steve

Thicker base gaskets , retard ign timing , gear it up maybe? Sometimes you can install a sleeve inside the venturi of your carb to reduce its size, this shouldnt be real hard to do on the old MIKUNI that the bike came with, and it should be cheaper than buying a smaller carb. Boyesen 2 stage reeds might give more bottom torque and will be better in your motor than the stockers (espescially if the originals were made of steel . MAYBE you can get a flywheel from an older IT 400 or something , it might be heavier.

Am I just completely insane trying to get back into trail riding on this bike?

I've been riding a friends XR200 while I'm working on the yz. We've been out a couple of times and I'm starting to feel comfortable again but somtimes I feel like I have a death wish taking this bike into tight trails.
