Are Michelin S12s really directional?

The S12s have directional arrows on them. However, I can see no obvious difference in tread pattern if they are flipped or reversed? Thank you in advance for any information on this topic. I did a search for it before posting and found nothing on the topic?

I actually put my S12 on the other way before I noticed the stupid arrow. The tread pattern looks symmetrical so I don't see anything wrong with this. It definitely hooks up.

I've never had a proble with them mounted in either direction. I too never noticed the arrow the first time I used them.

The "official" answer would be "yes" - cord direction of wrap bla bla bla...(someone did ask this questino a couple years ago and got that answer from a dealer). Reality is - I do it all the time - have never had an issue. Downside would be reduced braking traction I guess. I plan on reversing mine this weekend in fact!
