What was the result of this as my bike kicks back like a mule on crack also! And yes, it is scary because it feels like you are going to break your ankle!

The kick back issue sounds like improper ignition timing. I think thats a major thing to check. Plug..then Ignition timing. If it is way too advanced you wont ever get it to start, and it will pop and kickback...

If its kicking back at the kickstart that does point to a timing issue generally.

Nice one, I'll have a fiddle with the timing as I think it is as far advanced as it will go at the moment. I'll try half way ;)

Could be the left side crank seal.....
