En Route Sightseeing and Campgrounds

It looks like we may have an extra day on our hands coming down so we are planning to break the drive down into much smaller increments and see some sights. I'm looking for some recommendations for nice RV parks and worthwhile sights to check out in some of our potential stop cities. For the sights keep in mind we will be in an RV with a 12' trailer so I plan to stay out of inner city areas for ease of parking etc.

Some of our potential stopovers may/will include Souix City IA, Omaha NE, Topeka and/or Wichita KS.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Having lived in Topeka and Wichita, how do I put this delicately...one is the armpit and one is the anus of the state, but hey you might get to see some toothless meth addicts or spot the BTK serial killer in Wichita. Stop off here in KC, plenty of riding to do, some fun night spots as well as the Country Club Plaza and great food abounds. Depending on when you are coming through, you could try to hit a tailgate session at a Chiefs game...our parking lot at Arrowhead Stadium has been called the best tailgate party in the NFL, fun stuff.

BTW, Omaha has a great zoo...the Henry Dourly Zoo. If you like catfish, there is a place on the Missouri River that used to be really good...they specialized in catfish and carp (carp fixed properly is really good btw)

:laugh: thanks for the heads up about Kansas Swade. The Omaha Zoo sounds like a possibility :cool: We venture off I-29 before KC on our current route and end up on US-75. I was gonna motor right on through Omaha/Council Bluffs to keep the Mrs. out of the casino's :yikes: :laugh:

Until you've been to the lot at Soldier Field or Lambo, you haven't tailgated :aj:
