They are thicker because they have more pad left on them.

You have to push the piston(s) back into the caliper to allow room for the new ones pads to fit in. :cool:

I've tried it and it moves a little, but there's still not enough room. Lol.. I can't believe I can take apart and re-install my entire suspension/steering set up but can't install brake pads.
