Fuel to oil Ratio

New to 2 strokes and I want to know what would be the best oil to fuel ration for my 2000 rm250. Also what happens if you add too much oil to the fuel and vise versa with too little oil.

Any advise would help.

You'll usually see 32:1 or 40:1.
