what do they do, do i need to use them when i start up my bike? im new to the four strokes and have no idea what they do thanks

It helps you start a hot 4 stroke.

It works just the opposite of the choke.

I rarely have to use mine... ;)

thanks for the help but what does it do when you pull the trigger in, like does it engage a mecanisim?

it pulls a plunger in the carb.

I believe it blocks a fuel passage, but I could be wrong.

A hot engine can cause 'vapor lock' (hot gases not allowing cool fresh air to enter the combustion chamber), the hot start button introduces fresh air into the cylinder.
