I need some info regarding kickstarters for this bike. PO lost the entire lever and knuckle and I'm looking for a replacement. It's been decades since I had a Kawasaki 2 stroke but I recall the factory lever, circa 1974, bent very easily and slipped on the splines. I really don't like a kickstart so something a bit shorter would do nicely.. I'm 5'7" and 175 lbs so lowering links will also be on the agenda, seems Soupy and Kouba links are pretty much the choices. Just an occasional trail bike. Anyone with experience with either ? Suggestions as to parts accessibility ? Thanks..

Not sure about any aftermarket kick starter but RMC has the OEM in stock.

Is there a valid reason why some folks seem dead set against the OEM and instead install and slightly modify a KX250F kickstarter assembly ?

I have no idea. If the splines fit and it doesn't hit anything I see no reason why it won't work. I can only assume that others found out the OEM version is weak...just like you did.
