low compression 2001 cr125

I heard that the 2001 cr125 ad a low compresion rate out of the crate is this true if so how could I cheaply (free) up it. should I have the head or base milled.

The 2001 cr 125 is not a low compression engine !
If jetted correctly some people even have trouble running these bikes on pump fuel....

The cr actually has high compression but its fitted with a super loose piston and ring, if you fit a vertex or wiseco it will perform much better.

I figured that because it ran much better when I had My vertex piston in it. BUt the kid that I sold it to was complaing that it had blow by after he changed it back to a stock piston.figeured it was the piston.
