I took a electric knife and cut out seat foam, then smoothed and sanded it with a belt sander. I hear you can also cut the subframe down a little too.

subframe on 2002 300exc ktm

does anyone know how much you can remove from the subframe an where to remove the metal from? is there thread on this rework? Thanks

Almost every dirtbike mag has had an article about this in the last couple years. Basically you cut cut out between 5 - 20mm of metal from the subframe spars that run at an approx. 45 degree. The more you cut out the more drop you get. If I remember right 5mm led to a 15mm drop in seat height. Remember that the more you cut the higher the ratio to drop, the piece your cutting is at an angle to the rail that the seat is actually mounted to. If I can find one of the articles I'll try to post it.
