Anybody know why the red band was worn on so many rider's boots in 2006?

Yeah, it was way cool. When "The King" allows you full access to his event, it's gotta be good. Unfortunatley, he crashed out and broke his neck the first (of two) night (s).

Too bad the it didn't take off, was a really cool event, crazy track, 1 on one qualifiers, all kinds of change-ups to regular SX events.

K-Dub won it all and took home a Quarter $Million if I recall.

DV and Grant mixed it up big time, Travis back flipped during a qualifier, Hanson and Sorby was epic, lol. I'd like to see a qualifier with those two + Barsha :)

One of these days maybe Thump or I will share the story of our stay in the Compton area and our adventure to find somewhere to eat... "fish out of water" comes to mind.

From a photography standpoint, it was tough, open air stadium with less than good light, at night. Shot it with a freaking Canon 20D and (mostly) a Sigma 24-70 lens ... I had to get a lot closer than I wanted to, to get some of those shots. I ate a LOT of roost. The ones with black backgrounds? Yeah, that was the night sky, somehow my little Sigma flash did the job (most of the time).

I would have liked to run a little slower shutter speed to get more movement (knobs/spokes, etc) but decided not to risk it, I had already lost a rather important shot.... so, I ended up with a lot of stop action, but in focus... at least.

All the shots uploaded are straight of of the camera, no corrections at all. Proof that even an old school camera body and inexpensive glass can bring home a few shots. I was the shooter that showed-up to the race in an rusted-out beater, everyone else in Porsche. Made it fun actually.
