need stator and flywheel help

I have an 84 kdx250 that fried the stator, after talking to a bike shop they told me the 83 stator would run on the 84. found one on ebay but its biggier diameter than what came off but it mates up to the bolt holes, does anyone know if the 84 was setup to run different stators? also looking for places to get the flywheel if i can run the bigger stator, new to kdx's so i really dont know much about them

Any chance a stator repair company like Ricky Stator can rewind your stocker? At least you will know it fits.

FWIW, the '83 - '84 KDX250 were not very common even back in the day, so it is pretty hard to get info on that model.

You might try calling Jeff Fredette at Fredette Racing Products to see if he has any used parts or knows about interchangeability on the early 250's.

or you can read up on rewinding stator coils and get some motor wire and rewind it yourself
