I recently got an 82 PW50 given to me and I wanted to fix it up for one of my boys to learn on. The rebuild has been going great so far but for the life of me I cant get the shaft out of the rear wheel to get to the brake shoes and replace them and the bearing. Any advice/tips?

Pull the exhaust, right shock, and right side swingarm. The the wheel will practically fall off. You don't have to pull the shaft out, the wheel is splined in.

Thanks for the reply. I have the wheel off but Im trying to figure out how to get to the Brake shoes in the wheel housing. None of the guts in the wheel seem to want to separate.

According to Clymer:
3. Disconnect the brake cable from the brake arm
4. Spread the shoes and remove them from the housing
5. Remove the cover from the final drive housing
6. Remove the brake cam assembly
a. Pry the lockwasher tab away from the pinch bolt
b. Remove the pinch bolt and lockwasher, brake arm, and brake cam
7. remove the brake return spring to separate the brake shoes
Inspect

I hope that helps.
