hi guys:

i am looking for springs for an 02rm125, to suit my 220lbs!

where is the mx-tech spring rate generator, i couldnt find it on their site.

on race tech, their suggested rates were 0.45 fork and 5.1 shock.

do you think i can get away with running the stock springs from a cr250, i see they are both showas and the crs were 0.44 and 4.9 i think. i am sure i could get some of these at a reasonable price, anyone got any used ones? bclapham@scripps.edu

cheers

According to the manual:

fork spring
.42 standard
.44 hard

shock spring
4.9 standard
5.2 hard

I'm having trouble with the email at the moment.

so for the 02-03 cr250, the stock spring rates are.....drum role....

GP racing: 0.44 fork, 5.1 shock

RT 0.43 fork, 4.6 shock

MX-tech 0.45 fork, 4.9 shock

WTF? :silly:

Yep thats the problem with these generators.
the mx tech one does honestly seem closer to me than some of the others.
I doubt the cr250 has a 4.6 like RT say.

02 CR250 stock is .43 and 4.9 thats what they are regardless what everybody else says. 01 had .44kg forks and 00 had .43's. I had more then a few 01 shock springs rate as low as 4.5kg. I know that was the case because I recall one coming in with 18mm of preload on it to get a 190lb guy to 100mm of sag and it was topped out hard. Thats a lot of preload!! So watch them stock 01 CR shock springs. I've had no problems like that with the 02's.

Isnt it good to be able to find out something as simple as std spring rates;)
it gets even worse on some models as the euro ones have different/progressive springs.Even stranger is the fronts on the YZ250f are stiffer on the euros than the sx derived US version-?????????

I think the showas can cope with a lesser spring rate due to the inner chamber spring. On the shock i think you need to go to at least the 5.1.

i will see if i can get a used rear locally then.

apparently, the rm forks use shorter springs than the cr so they wont work. that said, i am getting ahead of myself, the bike dont even run yet, LOL
