As long as the new owners don't prompt visits from the local sheriffs office during AMA meetings due to fist fights.....and the party that does have everything to do with it is in another county while the track is open....it would be great to see someone take over and make it nice there. The step up and step downs used to be a boon to jump!

Why are there 2 separate ama districts in Michigan? I am unknowingly in the glmx area, and wonder why, and when this happened? As usual, I did not do it! Stanton, so on my bucket list of great tracks! Vintage Bob

Well fred your not that old my dads got ya beat. he graduated int 77. Anywho I was reading there site yesterday and it sounds like he wants to listen to what the riders have to say about the track then make improvements from there. It also says he wants to take it back to its heyday so it would be really cool to see what he does

i was 18 yrs old in 1976, not a better decade to be riding dirt bikes. i used to ride my 1974 Suzuki TM 125 to school. (when i made it there). :)

No grant isnt taking it over, he took over the supercross track. Some guy named steve from carson city. If you go to the track tab its at the bottom of the page. I can wait to see what he does to this place, if it goes back to the way old man moreland ran it then it will be a sweet track again

Yep.

There were a ton of bridges burned. I hope that he is able to pull it off and do it right. I sincerely wish them the best of luck.

I still have an old Morelands bumper sticker I'm saving, the other one is on one of my toolboxes. I used to go there but it got all out of whack over the years. My sons rode there but nevere really liked it. Those waning years were full of closures, back and forth owners, etc. Time will tell if anything comes of the new landlords...Does anyone remember the deer stands that were insdie the track area and the bait piles

I remember 88,89,90,91 60% of the HS races were there - seemed like every other weekend. I also remember what I used to call the killing field - all small rocks and stuff.

Fred that killing feild your talking about is still there. I rode it last spring and the rocks that come outta that place are horrible. How bout those slippery bridges to get back there though. I remember in like 96 there were a few people who had to be fished out. And then theres the pond that I hear that a few people took a trip out into

I heard that it was Mark Morelands cousin, but he denies being a relative of Mark. Can't blame him.

If someone is able to prove that he's even a 5th cousin twice removed, the chance of a D14 Sanction will be pretty slim....Those bridges were burned, exploded & disintegrated!

Anyone remember the riders meeting a couple years back at the last HS there?? :coocoo:

What the heck happened to the Michigan Mafia? What ever caused the split, and the horrific events at Morelands, GLAD I MISSED IT! Yuck. Who is correct, and over what though? There was a racer dad whining about district 17 tracks being all mostly natural, not fluffy like Redbud and Walnut. He was shocked that Redbud used to be rock and boulder strewn, and had mud! Maybe they need nap and Gookinaid ERG stations around the track?
