When looking to buy a new truck in the DFW,Tx area, I came up with the idea of getting several serious buyers together (I called it a "swarm"), and buying as a group.
Works like this: a group of buyers shop/bargain and buy, as a group, in order to leverage a volum/group discount.
When bargaining, you agree to all buy the agreed-upon truck/etc, at the same time, from the car dealer who would give the best "group discount".
The dealer will either pass up several sales, or get all of them. A dealer gets a guaranteed volume-sale, and u all get the lowest deal, period. You COULD even host a simple web-page to show the current "highest bidder", with a deadline for the "auction"...
Using the internet/forums, it is not hard to locate buyers and dealers, so---.
I just bot a sweet scoot, so I can't participate. This time.
Just a thot...

Two of my friends and I used to buy our bikes back in the 70's with that approach. It worked pretty good and we always got a killer deal.

Sam's Club and Costco also offer this type of program depending on what membership level your purchase.
